Abandoned Item Policy

Purpose:

 The purpose of this policy is to ensure the timely collection of items by customers and to provide a clear protocol for handling items that remain unclaimed beyond the stipulated timeframe.  

Policy Statement:

 Items left with LIMA COMPUTER that are not collected within the allocated timeframe will be considered abandoned and will be processed as per the guidelines detailed in this policy.  

Notification of Completion:

 Upon completion of service or repair, LIMA COMPUTER will notify the customer via phone, email, or text message. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that they provide accurate and reachable contact information.  

Collection Timeframe:

 Customers are expected to collect their items within 10 days of being notified of the completion of service.   

Customer agrees to retrieve their device within 10 calendar days from the date of notification that service is complete. A 3-day grace period will be provided. If the device is not picked up within this timeframe, it may be subject to additional fees or disposal procedures.

Abandonment:

  Items not collected within 10 days from the notification date will be considered abandoned.  

Final Reminder:

  If the item is not collected within 10 days, a final reminder will be sent to the customer via [ phone, email, or text message]. . The customer will have [ "3 additional days"] from the date of the final reminder to collect their item.  

Disposition of Abandoned Items:

 If the item remains unclaimed after the final reminder period, LIMA COMPUTER reserves the right to:

  • Sell the item to recover costs.
  • Dispose of the item.
  • Donate the item to a charity of our choice. 

Storage Fees and Abandonment:

 Devices not picked up within 13 days will incur a storage fee of $2.00 per day until retrieved. If the device remains unclaimed after 30 days, it may be treated as abandoned and processed according to Ohio law  

Unclaimed Property Procedure:

  If the device is unclaimed for over 30 days, the device may be:

- Turned over to the State of Ohio as unclaimed property under Ohio Revised Code §169, or

- Disposed of.

Liability:

 LIMA COMPUTER shall not be liable for any damage, loss, or data loss occurring to abandoned items. By leaving their item beyond the stipulated collection period, customers forfeit any claim or right to the abandoned item.   

Data Responsibility:

 The customer is responsible for backing up all data. Lima Computer is not liable for data loss. If a device is abandoned, all data will be securely and permanently erased. 

Exemptions:

  In unique circumstances, if a customer anticipates a delay in collecting their item, they must communicate with LIMA COMPUTER'S management before the end of the 10-day period to make special arrangements.
